GET THE LOOK: Stila's Smokey Eye

Products Used on Model:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Stila Smokey Eye Talking Palette***
Givenchy Magic Kajal Eye Pencil
Avon SuperShock Mascara
Kat Von D Kat Eye Brush Set (brushed used to complete this look are : the Eyeshadow Blending Brush, Angled Brow Brush, Smudge Brush)

***I just wanted to say that even though I loved the final outcome & the shadow colors, there was a ton of fall-out with this product.  This is especially annoying when you're applying the black powder liner!  The cool thing is that it almost literally talks you through the application--it comes with pictures, & directions.  My suggestion if you want to try this eyeshadow palette is to apply the eyeshadow before you apply your face makeup.***

The following are the step-by-step directions that come with the Eye Talking Palette.  The brushes they are referring to are Stila Brushes.  I used the Kat Von D brushes. You can use whichever brushes you have to recreate the look:

  • Apply the base color by using brush #9 to wash color over the entire lid area. *(I used my Blending Brush)*
  • Apply the lid color by using the pointy side of brush #15, defining the eyelid up into the crease and lightly under the eye. *(Again used the Blending Brush)*
  • Apply the crease color using the flat side of brush #15 to contour an arc into the crease. Remember to blend well to avoid harsh edges.*(Blending Brush yet again)*
  • Finally, using brush #4, smudge the outside corner of the eye, then the top and bottom of the lash line. *( I used my Angled Brow Brush to line the upper & lower lash line)*Finish up with Stila's Onyx Kajal Liner and Major Lash Mascara in Black. *(I used the Givenchy Magic Kajal Pencil which is the best tool to create a smokey eye! I rimmed the lower water line of the eye, then smudged the liner into the lash line on top & bottom, to set the liner, using my smudge brush I smudged the powder liner on top.)*

For The Man In Your Life

If your guy is a man's man & would rather get a root canal than go on a shopping trip to your local Sephora then introduce him to Jack Black.  No, not the actor.  Jack Black the grooming label for your manly man!  If your guy is sick of razor burn, nicks, & cuts, then Jack Black's advanced shaving regime is his solution.

Starting with Jack Black's Beard Lube-he can turn 3 steps into 1!  Talk about low maintenance! This shave formula is a pre-shave oil, shave cream, & skin conditioner in 1.  Beard Lube is not only revolutionary thanks to its unique 3 in 1 formula but because of its killer ingredient list too.  The light weight, smooth formula, penetrates even the toughest beard allowing the blade to glide easily preventing razor burn.  And for an even closer shave in the future the Jojoba oil & Macadamia Nut oil go below the surface of the skin & soften his future whiskers for an even easier shave the next time!

But dont just take my word for it-let's talk to a guy that's put it to the test
ME:  "Husband, can you describe to me in your own words why you love shaving with Beard Lube?"
HUSBAND:   "It doesn't irritate my skin, I don't get razor burn, & its a close shave."
ME: "So you would recommend this products to other guys having personal success with it yourself?"
HUSBAND: "Absolutely."

To finish off the best shave of his life he can smooth on Jack Black's Post Shave Cooling Gel.  The alcohol-free Post Shave Gel soothes irritation & redness while the aloe, chamomile, & ,witch hazel calm skin & provide relief from razor burn.  Both products are also fragrance & colorant free so you can be sure that your sensitive skinned Hubby will have a smooth non-irrated, clean shave.  In my husband's words "I would never use anything else-Jack Black is superior to all the rest".

I'm Totally Crushing Ole!

This is my second product I've tried by Ole Henriken & again, I'm blown away by the difference it makes to my skin.  I just gave the Blue/Black Berry Enzyme Mask a whirl & I already feel & see a difference after one application!  This reparative gel mask hydrates even the most parched skin types.  The mask will renew your skin with an incredible blend of black berries, blue berries, & papaya enzymes.  This trio will bring oxygen into your cells- making your skin feel like it took a big, fresh, spring-clean breath of air while also smoothing, refining the texture of your skin, & removing dead skin cells.  Because of these enzymes, your skin may experience a slight cooling/tingling feeling, but not to worry-- this mask is great for all skin types, even those with the most sensitive of skin.  This brings me to the calming benefits of the lavender extract.  Besides the aromatic benefits of lavender, lavender also aids in inflammation.  After skimming the reviews of this product I kept seeing a lot of people saying it really helped with acne issues.  Being someone who has suffered from acne in my past, I've tried everything for acne, and never heard of lavender treating acne.  So, I did a little research for you guys and found that
"lavender oil provides great topical benefits to the skin due to its antifungal and antiseptic properties. For this reason, some natural health advocates also believe that a lavender oil acne remedy can fight acne bacteria on the skin to reduce surface inflammation caused by chronic acne outbreaks." - (for even more uses for lavender oil click here)  You learn something new every day...

This mask is truly for everyone and you can use it 2-3 times a week.  Another thing I adore about this mask is that it is safe to use under the eye area! You can't do that with most products, but let me tell you, my eyes feel incredible & completely de-puffed & hydrated (thank you hyaluronic acid for binding moisture to my skin).  Also, let's take the time to thank my new crush, Ole, for formulating this product without the use of GMOs, Parabens, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, Sulfates, Synthetic Dyes or Fragrances, & Triclosan.  We love you, Ole, for giving us healthy skincare products that bring out our natural beauty!

If you're feeling a little hungover & your skin is totally suffering from a long weekend of partying, this is the perfect mask to thank your skin for putting up with long nights of drinking.  Or if you have a big event coming up & want a wonderful glowing complexion this mask is for you.  If you just want to kick back & relax with the calming aromatics of lavender then I would highly recommend Ole Henriksen's Blue/Black Berry Enzyme Mask.

GET THE LOOK: Estee Lauder's Summer 2011 Bronze Godess Soleil

Products Used On Model:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Estee Lauder New Bronze Goddess Island Oasis Eyeshadow Palette
Clinique Cream Shaper for Eyes Brown Sugar
Rimmel London Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner Pencil Royal Blue
Avon SuperShock Mascara in Black
Kat Von D Kat Eye Brush Set (Brushes used to complete this look: Eyeshadow Blending Brush & Smudge Brush)

To complete this eye-look I followed the directions on the Estee Lauder website as seen on Hilary (click here for step by step directions). Instead of using the Bronze Goddess Shadow Stick Duo in GoldBronze I used the Clinique Cream Shaper for Eyes in Brown Sugar. And in substitution of the Bronze Goddess Shadow Stick Duo in PinkTeal I used the Rimmel London Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner Pencil in Royal Blue.  Why may you ask did I not use the Bronze Goddess Shadow Stick Duos?  Quite frankly I wasn't fond of them after I tried them & didn't find them to be worth the $20.00. The Clinique Cream Shaper is $14.50 & the Rimmel London Pencil was $3 (practically free!) All the eyeshadow I applied with the Eyeshadow Blending Brush except when the directions say to smudge eyeshadow on top of the eyeliner I than switched to the Smudge Brush.  Just follow the directions & you'll be GOLDEN  (no pun intended hehe)!!!

Plant Love Baked Bronzer
Plant Love Blush Matte Rose
Lorac Perfectly Lit in Spotlight

  • After applying your daily moisturizer apply a foundation primer.  You apply foundation primer the same way you would a moisturizer, with your hands.
  • With a foundation brush apply foundation.  I apply foundation in a "cross-hatching" motion
  • With your fingers apply concealer wear needed (i.e. under eye area, around the nose, spots)
  • To apply your powder use the flat side of the brush & pat into skin to set your makeup
  • If you are fair skin such as the model, use the powder brush to apply your bronzer.  Starting at the middle of your forehead, do a "3" on one side & and "E" on the other side of your face. Meaning, take the brush from the middle of your forehead around the eye into the cheek back out & finish along the jawline-creating a "3" & and "E" motion.
  • To apply your blush start at the apple of the cheek and go straight back towards your ear.  Blush should be worn in a straight line & not from your cheek to your temple. To diffuse the color use your powder brush to blend into the skin.
  • To highlight the cheek bones use your finger to apply on the natural cheek bone using the powder brush to blend into the blush.

GET THE LOOK: Classic Sculpted Eye

Products used on model:

Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Cargo Essential Palette in Warm Neutral
Smashbox Jet Set Waterproof Liner in Midnight Black
Avon SuperShock Mascara in Black
Kat Von D Kat Eye Brush Set (Brushes used to complete this look are the Eyeshadow Blending Brush & Angled Brow Brush)

  • Apply eyeshadow primer from the lashline to the brow (remember, just a dab will do you!)
  • With your eyeshadow blending brush apply the lid color from the lash line to the crease (if you have the cargo essential eye pallette, the shadows are labeled so you know exactly where all shades go)
  • With your eyeshadow blending brush apply the crease color just in the natural crease of your eye (with a back & forth sweeping motion)
  • With your fingers, apply the darkest shadow in the outer corner of your eye. Add a little bit of this color at a time so that you don't go too dark, too fast.  Add more if you're looking for more drama. Then use your eyeshadow blending brush & blend the color in.
  • With your fingers, sweep the brow bone color along your brow bone
  • To apply the cream liner I used the angled brow brush.  I like the way that it applies the liner, but if you want, you can use the flat eyeliner brush. You don't have to apply in one swift motion -- connect the lines. Do a little at a time so that you make sure your line is straight
  • Finish with your favorite mascara on top & bottom lashes

The Hit Woman of Free Radicals

Don't worry no one is going to jail if you use Ole Henriksen's Sheer Transformation.  But the free radicals, those pesky little skin agers, will not stand a chance against this oil-free perfecting creme!  With the warm weather just around the corner this is the perfect day creme to add to your anti-aging skin care regime.  The creme goes onto your skin so light & sheer in texture, leaving your skin feeling silky all day. Absolutely no greasy resadue-it quickly penetrates your skin with an intense free radical army, ready for battle!

Due to my past tanning bed addiction (I'm 3 years pale now)-I've started to notice some sun damage.  So I did a little wandering around Sephora & came across this little wonder.  With a powerful vitamin C complex my hyperpigmentation is sure to reduce.  Without the use of chemicals, instead the use of pea & licorice extract suppresses discoloration.  The fruit & beta hydroxy acids get down to business retexturizing the skin & smoothing away facial lines.  Instantly your skin is nourished & restored with the extracts of chamomile, geranium, sandalwood & vitamin E.

Formulated without parabens, petro-chemicals, phthalates, sulfates, or synthetic dyes & fragrances, Ole's Sheer Transformation will leave your skin looking & feeling sensational!

Be the Unforgivable Woman

My husband has been wearing Sean John's Unforgivable colone for the past 3 years & I love it so much that I want to wear it myself...sometimes I do!  Well now I dont have to because I just got Sean John's Unforgiveable Woman.  It's equally as sexy & alluring as the male cologne but embodies all things sophisticated & feminine.  With a blend of Bergamont, Orange Flower, Jasmine, and Coco de Mer, these notes are sure to intoxicate your senses.  The combination of these luscious notes can be described as creamy, floral, & warm with a hint of spice.  If your looking to try a fragrance & want something more provocative & normally go for fragrances that fall in the woody-oriental category then I would suggest sniffing out Sean John's Unforgivable Woman.

Surge Into A Younger You!

Have I found the fountain of youth?  Maybe...keep reading!  Being that I have acne & oily prone skin I tend not to be able to use anti-aging products because they are always on the more emollient side & cause me to either break out or have way oily skin.  Which is completely annoying because I am a huge believer in prevent, prevent, prevent-it's much easier to prevent signs of aging than it is to reverse the signs of aging.  Like I've said before I'm always switching up my skincare routine because I'm obsessed with trying new products to see what the results are to my skin.  In other words your personal guinea pig.  So when I buy something more than once you know it has to be the best.

The answer is yes, I have found the Fountain of Youth & it's at your nearest Clinique counter.  Clinique's Youth Surge Night for dry combination skin.  "But Amy, you have oily skin how on earth are you using a product meant for dry combination skin?!"  Well, I'm on my second, i repeat my second jar, and find that it does not make me breakout or make my skin feel like an oily mess.  It is an age decelerating night moisturizer that enhances your natural skin repair process which happens while you sleep.

The magic comes from the patent pending technology of Sirtuin which increases your natural skin repair process so when you rise & shine your skin is energized-whether you got the coveted 8 hours of sleep or not.  Your skin is plump & fully hydrated come morning.  Fine lines & wrinkles will never creep up on your vibrant skin that is fully alive with natural collagen & elastin!

I feel this product is ideal for people who are trying to prevent aging.  I cant vow for how it works with correcting damage that has already taken place.  Personally, I feel a stronger anti-aging night moisturizer would be a better solution for people over 35.  Though Clinique does claim that it can turn "back the clock"-so if you are over 35 & want to give it a whirl then by all means try it out & let me know how it worked for you.  And to the people in the 25-35 age group run, don't walk to your nearest Clinique counter and prevent, prevent, PREVENT those wrinkles!  Happy sleeping...ZzzZZZ

Get a Little Nutty!!!

An ancient secret native to the rainforest's of Central America, for extraordinarily healthy, shiny, & soft hair has been revealed. The Miskito Indians live on the lowlands along the Caribbean coast  & have been called in their native language, "Tawira", or "the people of beautiful hair" for the past 5 centuries.  The unique Ojon Tree grows only in the Mosquitia region of the rainforests in Central America.  Ojon oil is a exotic, rich oil extracted from the tropical tree & is the secret to their beautiful hair.

If your hair is in need of some serious damage control allow me to introduce to you a restorative hair remedy practiced by "the people of beautiful hair"-Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment.  Not only is this a ritual that has outlasted 500 years but is currently acclaimed by the beauty editor of Lucky magazine "one of the BEST beauty products of the past DECADE!"  Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment is ojon in its purest form. Don't just take my word for it-supported by clinical studies the Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment instantly hydrates, restores, and strengthens damaged, dry hair.   This hair treatment leaves your hair more manageable, shiny, silky, & soft.  Even if your hair is in good condition, you will see noticeable improvement.  Clinical Tests show that after just one 20 minute Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment application there is a 52% improvement in the condition of even the driest of hair types.  And if the treatment is left in over night, clinical tests show a 64% improvement.

I use my Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment weekly, but you can use it as much as needed.  You do not wash your hair before applying this product-it is applied to dry, unwashed hair.  You scoop a 1/2 teaspoon amount of the ojon into your palm warming the ojon into the oil form by rubbing it between the palms of your hand.  Then distribute the product evenly from hair line to hair ends and comb through to make sure hair is fully saturated with the product.  Damaged, thicker hair will require more product so repeat these steps till all hair is covered in ojon.  Massage the scalp for 1-2 minutes to allow the ojon oil to penetrate & stimulate the hair follicle & scalp.  Leave the treatment on for at least 20 minutes-the longer the better.  You can wear the treatment over night & is suggested to those who have damaged, dehydrated, ultra-dry hair to do so.  Just remember to either wear a shower cap or put a towel over the pillow case.  When it comes time to remove your treatment rinse it out of your hair in the shower and follow by shampooing like you normally would.  I usually rinse, shampoo, rinse, shampoo, rinse to make sure all the oil is out of my hair.  If you have drier hair follow with conditioner but if your like me & your hair tends to be on the oiler side then I wouldn't recommend using conditioner after this treatment.

This is a must-have, cult favorite for brittle, dull, lifeless, flyway, frizzy, & unmanageable hair.  If your looking to restore the health of your hair then Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment is your answer!

Thirsty Thursday

Im not talking about drinking till you pass out with (gasp) a full face of makeup on, I'm talking about your SKIN being thirsty for facial!  We put our skin through alot be it free radicals, too much sun exposure, or falling asleep with your makeup on & your skin & you deserve a little extra pampering.  Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to take a weekly trip to the spa for a facial but that doesn't have to stop you from giving your face the extra TLC it rightly deserves!

Once a week since I as long as I can remember I've given myself weekly facials. What I like to do is either chemically or physically exfoliate my skin, following up with a treatment mask addressing the skin care concern most important to me.  I exfoliate first because I feel then my mask can really get down to business.  Currently I'm using Fresh's Sugar Face Polish & Bliss's Steep Clean professional-strength facial mask. The Sugar Face Polish is an exfoliating mask that brightens & refines your skin revealing a more radiant complexion.  It is formulated without GMOs, Parabens, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, Sulfates, Synthetic dyes, or Triclosen.  The real brown sugar crystals in this innovative formula blended with the crushed wild strawberries work together to dissolve dead skin cells leaving you with totally nourished skin.  In addition the moisturizing blend of meadowfoam seed, plum, mango, and macadamia oils condition your skin leaving it feeling supple & soft.  After I've applied this to cleansed moist skin & I have gently massaged for about a minute into my skin-I then leave the product on for about 10 minutes before rinsing with warm water. I pat dry my face & now apply the Bliss Steep Clean facial mask.  This mask is formulated without Phthalates or Petrochemicals.  Steep Clean truly is a steep clean preventing clogged pores, minimizing not only breakouts but pores, and brightens skin all in about 15 minutes.  This a must-have mask for all skin types, but definitely amazing for people with congested skin like myself.

Like Ive stated in previous posts everyone needs to exfoliate!  Even drier skin types-which by the way the Fresh Sugar Face Polish would be amazing for you!  But not everyones number one skincare concern is acne or clogged pores, maybe its fine lines & wrinkles, whichever your concern is there is a at home treatment.  Feel free to ask for advice in finding the perfect at home facial for you-your skin deserves a treat!

Happy Thirsty Thursday-please drive safely & remove your makeup :)

Yikes, looks like she removed more than just her makeup...but something tells me that her makeup, along with her undies are the only thing still on...!!!

LIVE From The Red Lip...

In honor of Sundays Oscars I'd like to address the red lip.  One swipe of a red lipstick can instantly transform you to a glamorous more sexier you.  True Red is my personal favorite, but there is a red lipstick out there for everyone.  Well not everyone feels comfortable with a red lip-I say raise the comfort level people and own it.  What good is a red lip if you don't feel absolutely fierce when wearing it?

How to create a red lip:  #1 it takes a bit longer than swiping on your everyday nude.  You need to use a lip brush when applying a serious red.  Using a lip brush allows for a more accurate application.  My favorite lip brush is made by Inglot Cosmetics.  You can check it out on their website inglotcosmetics.com under the top header "Brushes", then under lip brushes the brush I love & use is 12S.  You cant buy from their website unfortunately & they only have 5 stores in the US but if you are ever near one GO!  Then you will need to use a liner that matches your lipstick shade exactly! This isn't the 90's anymore, you don't want to look like your wearing a liner, but you HAVE to wear one with a red lip.  A liner will prevent feathering & bleeding and make it a ton easier when applying the lipstick.  My ultimate favorite red liner is Makeup Forever's Aqua Lip Waterproof Lip liner Pencil in Red 8C, it's a beautiful true red. Available at sephora.com for only $17!  Okay, now with lip brush in hand your ready to get red.  My favorite red is made by Lavish Body + Home.  The Mirco Bubble Lipstick in Micro Red available at Lavish Body + Home in Scranton, PA for $15.  Like the Makeup Forever Lip pencil it is a true beautiful red.  It is long wearing trust me!  My husband wont kiss me if I'm wearing lipstick and it'll be 5 hours of wearing this lipstick and he still wont kiss me because it's still on! Even after eating & drinking.  I'm like "Joshua its not coming off just kiss me already!"  Now if you want to try out the orange lip trend you can finish with an orange lip gloss.  I think this lip gloss is my favorite lip gloss period.  Also made by Makeup Forever, Glossy Full Couleur #2 (vibrant orange).  Kinda freaking out because I just went on the Sephora website & its not on there.  But it is on the makeup forever website so its not discontinued.  Ummm interesting I would think Sephora would be caring it this season with the focus on orange lips?  Anyway if you can find it & want it, get it!  Not only does it look amazing over top a true red it looks great alone or over other shades too.  It gives your lip that uber glossy mirror finish.  And has a minty fragrance reinforcing the iced frosty effect of the gloss.

I feel like such a tool taking a picture of myself like this so please don't judge me haha!

Ahh yes right the Oscars...I forgot I got carried away by my love of The Red Lip...my top picks for best dressed # 1: Michelle Williams, #2 Cate Blanchett, # 3 Hillary Swank

Bottom 3: (best of the worst to worst) #1 Scarlett Johansson (she is so beautiful but did not look like she was going to award show with that beachy hair and her dress was unflattering & clashed with the carpet) # 2 Jennifer Hudson ( she just got such an amazing body but the dress is so not right for her body & made her look frumpy!  Especially in the boob area!) # 3 Jennifer Lawrence (she looked like she was wearing Pam Anderson's Baywatch swim suit in a dress form. This is the super bowl of award shows and I think it was totally inappropriate)

Who were your top & bottom 3???
